Royals: After worrying about Mette-Marit, Hof announces great news

After Princess Mette-Marit had to cancel more and more appointments at short notice, the Norwegian court now confirms great news that should calm Royal fans.

Finally there is good news about Princess Mette-Marit, 48! After her last-minute cancellations of appointments increased and gave cause for concern, the court announced on May 12, 2022 that the crown princess and her family could celebrate the national holiday – Norway’s most important festival – as before the corona pandemic.

Princess Mette-Marit: Short-term appointment cancellations have increased recently

In the past few weeks, renewed concern for Princess Mette-Marit has been the focus of attention. At the beginning of April 2022, she had to cancel a trip with Prince Haakon, 48, to the north of Norway at short notice, and the abrupt termination of her visit to Sweden almost a month later, when she was so radiant at the beginning, attracted attention. Another important date also had to be removed from Mette-Marit’s royal calendar: the visit to the annual conference of the main economic organization on May 12th.

In 2018, Mette-Marit made her chronic lung disease public. Since then it has become “more important than ever to be primarily Mette” and not a crown princess, she once said in an interview with the Norwegian broadcaster “NRK”. Cancellations at short notice are therefore always on the agenda.

Mette-Marit and Co.: Big encounter on the national holiday

But now there is reason to hope that royal fans will soon see Princess Mette-Marit again: the court announced that she is with husband Haakon, her children and the royal couple Harald, 85, and Sonja, 84, the Norwegian National Day on May 17th as festive as before the pandemic.

In 2020 and 2021, the royal family had to rethink due to strict measures. Although they appeared in public, the celebrations for general security took place at a great distance from the population, and the traditional children’s parades were canceled. In February 2022 it became known that the parades for the national holiday could finally take place again this year.

end of the national holiday

The schedule for 2022 is as follows: The crown prince couple will welcome the children’s parade from the steps of their home at Gut Skaugum from 8:15 a.m. The family then travels to Oslo, where they are expected at 10:30 a.m. with the royal couple on the palace balcony. From there they wave together at the Oslo children’s parade.

As the royal court has now announced, the family will then retire to the castle for a private lunch.
