A man posing as a priest has broken into the Coldstream Guards barracks near Windsor Castle.

A man has tricked the guards at Windsor Castle and spent the night in the Coldstream Guards barracks. This is reported by several British media unanimously. The Coldstream Guards are one of Queen Elizabeth II’s personal regiments (96). The Queen is said to have been at Sandringham when the incident took place as the “Guardian” writes, among others.

Military takes security breach “extremely seriously”

The police were therefore alerted that there was an intruder in the Victoria Barracks, which is located near Windsor Castle. The man reportedly posed as a priest to the guards. According to “TalkTV”, he claimed to be a friend of the military chaplain, but did not identify himself. The fake priest ate and drank with high-ranking members of the Coldstream Guards – and was offered a bed for the night. The man also told war stories from Iraq.

A police spokesman confirmed to the “Guardian” that the intruder was taken out of the barracks in the morning and that no further action was necessary. The military have said the matter is a high priority and is being “thoroughly investigated.” This “breach of security is taken extremely seriously”. However, since this is an ongoing investigation, they do not want to go into detail about it at the moment.

Queen Elizabeth II recently returned to Windsor Castle. As part of her 96th birthday, she had previously spent around a week in Sandringham.
