Wedding with Princess Sophie causes a rain of donations

In May 2023, Ludwig, Prince of Bavaria, 41, and university lecturer Sophie-Alexandra Evekink, now Princess Sophie, celebrated a dream wedding that had come true. In the Theatinerkirche in the heart of Munich, the couple said yes in front of family, friends, politicians and the nobility at 10 a.m. A large wedding reception was then held at Nymphenburg Palace. The secret civil wedding took place on Christmas Eve 2022 in a small circle.
In advance, Ludwig and his Sophie asked for donations instead of gifts. A large sum of money was raised, which is now being donated.

“Instead of gifts, it was very important to the bridal couple to draw attention to special aid projects by the Nymphenburg Aid Association. In the next few days, the exact amount of the donations collected will be publicly announced,” said the official Instagram account shortly after the wedding of the house of Bavaria.

Now, almost exactly one month later, Ludwig Prince of Bavaria and Sophie Princess of Bavaria are reporting back with the donation results. “In the run-up to the wedding, the bridal couple asked for donations instead of gifts for their wedding for the Nymphenburg aid association, which supports organizations that are very close to their hearts. Thanks to the great support of so many, a sum of over 275,000 euros was achieved,” reports the house of Bavaria.

Sophie wants to support refugees in Bavaria

Half of these donations go to the “Learning Lions” project in Kenya. “The other half to a new initiative by Princess Sophie to support refugees in Bavaria,” it said.

The bridal couple would like to thank “very much for the numerous, generous participation in these charitable (heart) projects”.
