Just get out!
This is where the royals prefer to spend their holidays
Máxima & Co. usually spend their holidays in their own country. But what are the desired destinations when the duty is done?
One can vividly imagine the nagging of the royal teenagers: what, the same holiday program as last year? Sitting around one of the country estates and dressed up and smiling for the cameras while all your friends explore the world? It’s a must in these circles. But in order to keep their children happy – and because they want to see something other than their third castle – many royals travel several times.
The royal families want to be undisturbed on private vacations
Preferably under the radar of the public. Outside their own country, they want to remain undisturbed. In addition, it is otherwise critical that they should better support domestic tourism. Kings in the premier class are those who have a holiday home, like the Dutch do. The Swedes also have one: They inherited it from King Carl Gustaf’s uncle Bertil in 1997. Even he loved the reliably good weather in southern France. Sweden really cannot guarantee that.
Willem-Alexander and Máxima of the Netherlands: House guests welcome
The royal couple resides in three houses with Amalia, 18, Alexia, 17, and Ariane, 15, on a 4,000 square meter property in the Greek coastal town of Kranidi. That’s perfect for the three daughters: they can invite many friends over. There are two large pools and several chill-out zones, so you don’t get in each other’s way. The royals are very active: trips on the yacht “Alma” are on the program almost every day. They like to sail to the island of Spetses to their favorite restaurant “Orloff”.
Haakon and Mette-Marit of Norway: Bathing without shivering
With their good friends, the entrepreneur couple Kristin and Olav Selvaag, the royals vacationed in their villa in the jet-set town of Porto Cervo in Sardinia. A dream especially for the children: finally water sports without a wetsuit! Mette-Marit, 48, liked it so much that she stayed with Kristin for a few more days without any attachments.
Frederik and Mary of Denmark: Relationship on top
A native of Australia, Crown Princess Mary, 50, loves the warmth. Time off in Greece makes her forget that she spends the rest of the year in mostly cool Denmark. In addition, the stay in southern Europe will be combined with visits to Frederik’s, 54, Greek royal relatives. On Kos, Mary, Frederik and their children have also been spotted walking through the town. Then it was on to a yacht.
Felipe and Letizia of Spain: unrecognized on the beach
Queen Letizia, 49, in particular, is reluctant to go to Mallorca for the annual summer event. In Palma, Felipe, 54, Leonor, 16, and Sofía, 15, immediately catch the eye and are constantly being photographed. The family, on the other hand, remained almost incognito on the beach in Torre Lapillo. Hardly anyone noticed anything about her vacation in Croatia some time ago.
Victoria and Daniel from Sweden: And there’s a boat too
Sweden’s crown princess loves the oasis of happiness on the Mediterranean, where she often spent her holidays as a child. From the “Villa Mirage” you can steer the royal motorboat “Polaris” directly into the waves. King Carl Gustaf, 76, always plays the captain. Just a few weeks ago, Prince Carl Philip, 43, his wife Sofia, 37, and their three sons vacationed here with the royal couple. space is enough. And thanks to grandma and grandpa, there is no need for an additional babysitter.
