PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones)–RTL Group, a subsidiary of the German media group Bertelsmann, announced Monday evening that it had decided to retain the 48.3% stake held in the French audiovisual group M6.
While RTL Group says it has received several “financially attractive” offers, it considers the risks and legal uncertainties associated with such an operation “too high”, due to the approval processes required from the competition authorities and the media, but also the date of the next renewal of the license of the main channel M6.
However, RTL Group says it remains “convinced that consolidation is necessary to compete with” global Tech platforms.
The audiovisual groups TF1 and M6 had given up their marriage project on September 16, due to the difficulties encountered with the competition authorities.
