“See more, hear more, read more”: RTL + will in future offer not only films and series, but also music, podcasts, audio books and premium magazines – and will become Germany’s largest digital entertainment platform.

At RTL Germany there are some innovations on the agenda. The streaming platform TVNOW will in future be operated under the name RTL +. In connection with the change, the program makers speak of an expansion in terms of content. RTL + is to be expanded into Germany’s largest digital entertainment platform in the first half of 2022. A new, in-house developed technology based on artificial intelligence guarantees easy use.

RTL + bundles media offers

All types of digital media will be bundled on one entertainment platform. RTL wants to make streaming as easy as possible for people of all ages. Users should not only get films, documentaries, shows and series, sports and news programs, but also an extensive range of music, podcasts, audio books and access to various magazines.

Due to the upcoming merger with Gruner + Jahr on January 1, 2022, RTL + will also have digital editions of premium magazines available. For music, audio books, radio plays and podcasts, RTL + has entered into partnerships with Deezer and the German-speaking Penguin Random House publishing group, which, like RTL Germany, belongs to the Bertelsmann media group. The range of films and series will be expanded, and all live streams from RTL Germany’s 14 TV channels will also be viewed via RTL +. The partnership with Deutsche Telekom is also to be continued. The TVNOW streaming service has been an integral part of MagentaTV since the end of 2020. The new entertainment platform RTL + will then also be integrated in 2022.

“People have been waiting for such an offer”

This is what Matthias Dang and Stephan Schäfer, Co-CEOs of RTL Deutschland, say about the changes: “RTL + makes streaming easier than ever. With a subscription, our customers get access to an entertainment world that is unique in its diversity. Series, films and sports, documentaries and news, music, podcasts and audio books as well as premium magazines – you can see more, hear more and read more to your heart’s content. “

This is why RTL + should also be a real innovation for the international media market: “Through the close exchange with our audience, we know that a lot of people have been waiting for such an offer, which is diverse and easy to use at the same time. For us, it comes together in one offer What we are currently strategically developing: The first fully integrated media company in Germany that wants to grow with positive entertainment and independent journalism across all media types and expand its leading market positions. “

With 2.4 million paying subscribers and up to 7 million unique users per month, RTL + (formerly TVNOW) is the leading German streaming provider.
