Greens crawl up to SPD, Union stays ahead

Driven by the high level of satisfaction with their federal ministers, the Greens have achieved the highest level of approval in the RTL/ntv trend barometer since entering government. The SPD, which is behind the Union, is under pressure on both sides.

With an approval of 21 percent of those surveyed, the Greens have achieved the highest level of approval in the current year in the RTL/ntv trend barometer. Most recently, in July last year, so many people indicated that they wanted to vote for the party. In the trend barometer, the party is thus more and more on par with the parties ahead of it: the CDU and CSU continue to lead with 26 percent, followed by the SPD with 23 percent.

There is also no movement in the other parties this week: FDP and AfD are stagnating at 9 percent. The left is still at an existence-threatening 4 percent. 8 percent of respondents would opt for another, smaller party. 79 percent of those surveyed name the war in Ukraine as the most important political issue at the moment, followed by energy at 40 percent and the corona pandemic, which 36 percent consider important.

Baerbock most popular

The distance between Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Union faction leader Friedrich Merz remains unchanged in direct comparison. Both lose one percentage point each. 42 percent would choose Scholz, 18 for the CDU chairman Merz. 48 percent state that they are very satisfied or satisfied with Scholz’s work, 47 are dissatisfied to very dissatisfied.

This puts Scholz well below the values of Annalena Baerbock and Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck. Foreign Minister Baerbock leads the ranking with a satisfaction level of 61 percent, followed by Economics Minister Habeck with 59 percent. Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner is just behind Scholz with 44 percent satisfaction. The Federal Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht, who is particularly in demand these days, is only 29 percent satisfied, while 60 percent are dissatisfied to very dissatisfied – significantly more than the others named.
