RTL/ntv trend barometer
SPD and Greens lose, Union increases

The traffic light parties, which together achieved 52 percent in the federal elections, currently only get 44 percent of the votes. Only three parties from different camps are currently doing better than in September 2021.

In the current trend barometer from RTL and ntv, the CDU and CSU gained one percentage point compared to the previous week, while the SPD and the Greens each lost one point. The left gains slightly, the values of the other parties remain unchanged.

If the Bundestag were elected now, the parties could expect the following result: CDU/CSU 28 percent (Bundestag election in September 2021: 24.1 percent), SPD 19 percent (25.7 percent), Greens 19 percent (14.8 percent) , AfD 14 percent (10.3 percent), FDP 6 percent (11.5 percent), Left 5 percent (4.9 percent). 9 percent of voters (8.7 percent) would choose other parties.

At 24 percent, the proportion of non-voters and undecided correspond to the proportion of non-voters in the last federal election (23.4 percent).

Scholz loses a point

There has also been little change in the chancellor’s preferences. If the Federal Chancellor were elected directly and if the incumbent Olaf Scholz, Green Economics Minister Robert Habeck and CDU leader Friedrich Merz were up for election, then 22 percent of those eligible to vote would currently choose Scholz. That’s one point less than last week. Merz and Habeck accounted for an unchanged 19 percent.

If those entitled to vote had the choice between Scholz, Merz and Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, 24 percent would choose Scholz, 21 percent for Merz and 20 percent for Baerbock. Scholz also loses a point in this constellation, Merz gains a point, Baerbock remains unchanged.

When asked which party is best at dealing with the problems in Germany, 13 percent named the Greens. 11 percent each of all eligible voters are currently most likely to trust the Union and the SPD with political competence. The FDP accounts for 3 percent, all other parties 6 percent. 56 percent of those entitled to vote do not currently trust any party to deal with the problems in Germany.
