The RTX 3090 Ti is one of Nvidia’s most anticipated graphics cards, not only because of its performance, which is likely to break new records, but also because of its price, which will be one of the highest for a consumer graphics card. .
Nvidia confirmed a few days ago during CES 2022 the arrival of a power monster, the RTX 3090 Ti. This promises to boost the performance of the current RTX 3090 tenfold, and the card has already been referenced on several Swiss and German sites before its official release at the end of the month.
Indeed, the custom graphics cards MSI GeForce RTX 3090 Ti SUPRIM X and MSI GeForce RTX 3090 Ti GAMING X TRIO have notably been marked at 3201 euros and 3129 euros respectively, which is much more than the RTX 3090 usually offered below 3000 euros for these references.
Official tech specs confirmed ahead of launch
During its presentation, Nvidia only mentioned a few specifications, but we now know the full technical data sheet of its new graphics card. Indeed, it was published by the leaker @wxnod on his Twitter account.
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 will be able to count on a total of 84 SM units, giving a total of 10,752 CUDA cores (compared to 82 SM / 10496 cores on the classic RTX 3090). In addition to CUDA cores, Nvidia’s RTX 3090 Ti is also equipped with next-generation RT (Ray-Tracing) cores, Tensor cores, and all-new SM or stream multiprocessor units.
We also learn that the reference model will operate at a 1560 MHz base clock frequency and a frequency 1860 MHz boost clock with a 450W TDP. As a reminder, this is 100 W more than the classic RTX 3090, the graphics card will therefore be powered by a new 16-pin microfit MOLEX cable.
The most impressive novelty is surely the recommendation of a 1000 W power supply for the graphics card, unheard of for a consumer GPU. The new RTX 3090 Ti is officially expected to arrive by the end of January. It is hoped that its price will drop quickly, knowing that Nvidia has promised more stock by July 2022. This should help bring prices down.
