THE graphics cards RTX 3000 and RTX 4000 from NVIDIA will soon be able to embellish (all?) your videos.

You may not have noticed, but during CES 2023 in Las Vegas, NVIDIA made a rather peculiar announcement based on RTX, video support and super-sampling.

Algorithms and artificial intelligence

Like what it already offers with DLSS, NVIDIA therefore intends to improve the rendering of our videos by using the GPUs of its Ampere and Ada Lovelace generation graphics cards.

Despite the name of this technology, RTX Super Resolution, it is important to specify from the outset that the GeForce RTX 2000 are not affected. Only the RTX 3000 and RTX 4000 will be able to display videos in a higher image definition than originally planned ” much clearer than before “.

Powerful algorithms and a touch of artificial intelligence have been deployed for several demonstrations, including one featuring the game Apex Legends for a rather surprising 4K result.

Pilots before the end of the month

Other condition sine qua non, you will need graphics drivers capable of supporting RTX Video Super Resolution (RTX VSR). This support should be the occasion of the opening of a new branch for NVIDIA. It would thus be a question of the v530 drivers.

Earlier this week, Google rolled out version 110 of its Chrome browser with RTX VSR support. It was obviously enough for the tongues to loosen at NVIDIA. Thus, Manuel Guzman, quality assurance manager at the manufacturer, specified that v530 will be deployed “ later in the month “.

So there are only a few weeks to wait to be able to taste this promising new technology. Remember, however, a constraint that should not be forgotten: it will not be possible to force the activation of the RTX VSR, and it will not work if the PC is on battery.
