From December 16 to 23, 2023, movie buffs have an appointment with the Les Arcs European film festival, for a 15th edition at the top. Preview films, competition and renowned guests, everything you need to know about the event. On track !
This year, Les Arcs celebrates its 15th anniversary! On this occasion, the festival dedicated to independent European cinema saw things big with an edition that could not be more prestigious, from December 16 to 23, 2023.
Engaged on a number of subjects, such as the defense of a certain idea of Europe through its cinema, the event puts mental health at the heart of this 15th part, all in a warm atmosphere, thanks to screenings preview films, masterclasses and a parade of concerts.
If artists such as Zaho de Sagazan, CUT_, Vitalic, Voyou or Charlotte Adigéry & Bolis Pupul will give the “la” of the Arcs Film Festival 2023, the most beautiful names in cinema will obviously also be there.
Chaired by Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi (A Separation, The Past, A Hero), this year’s feature film jury will be composed of Vincent Lacoste, Christine Angot, Irène Drésel and Rebecca Marder.
Victor Belmondo, Lucie Debay, Patrick Fabre, Mees Peijnenburg and Fanny Sidney will be responsible for judging the 16 short films under the presidency of Mona Achache (Little Girl Blue). And that’s not all, since the festival will welcome two guests of honor: Bérénice Béjo and Ruben Östlund, winner of two Palmes d’Or!
In terms of competition, 9 feature films are in the running for the Flèche de Cristal, including the Greek film Animal, the Belgian film Holly, the Swedish film Sous Hypnose and Le Successeur, a French drama by Xavier Legrand, to whom we owe Until to the guard.
Add to that the presence of Romain Duris, Cédric Kahn, Xavier Beauvois, Michel Hazanavicius, Jeanne Balibar and Jonathan Cohen, but also the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Sisley Woman of Cinema Prize, and you obtain an exceptional vintage!
