More than a month before the start of the Rugby World Cup, which takes place in France from September 8 to October 28, the XV of France begins its preparation this Saturday in Edinburgh against Scotland. If Fabien Galthié preferred to reorganize his team, to avoid possible injuries, some young people will be thrown into the deep end with a chance to seize for the World Cup.
Eighty minutes to convince. The XV of France launches its preparation for the Rugby World Cup against Scotland, Saturday in Edinburgh, with a largely overhauled team where there will be chances to seize for the World Cup (September 8-October 28). With three neophytes in the starting XV, the Blues advance partly masked, but, just over a month before the start of the World Cup, with a gala poster against the All Blacks, Fabien Galthié’s men in are in the final stages of adjustment.
A fierce battle
This Saturday afternoon, on the side of Murrayfield in Edinburgh, it will not be a dress rehearsal. It is still a bit early to find most of the players from Stade Toulousain and Stade Rochelais who played in the Top 14 final and whom Fabien Galthié does not want to expose to injury. The technician is carrying out a squad review in Scotland and will throw a few young people into the deep end. For the Europe 1 consultant, Serge Blanco, there are things to show and places to take.
“We are going to test young people who must show the coach of the France team that he can trust them and that he can bring them to participate in wearing the colors of this XV of France. Knowing if these boys are capable of generating something in the continuity of the game that the coach advocates”, he underlines at the microphone of Europe 1. Also note the return of Brice Dulin, no longer called since March 2021 and who will be captain against the Scotland this Saturday afternoon. It will be a fierce battle, but also an internal fight for some who dream of being part of the list of 33 which will be announced on August 21.
