Ruhrpott rocket – Brabus 1300 R: First motorcycle by the Mercedes tuner

So far, vehicle refiner Brabus has made a name for itself primarily with car conversions from Mercedes and Smart. The Bottrop-based company has now added a motorcycle to its portfolio: the Brabus 1300 R is the name of the model limited to 154 units, which is based on the KTM 1290 Super Duke Evo and was launched with the official blessing of the two-wheeler manufacturer.

In the case of the Super Duke, however, the tuners, who are known for their elaborate performance upgrades, left the engine untouched. Accordingly, the already lavish 180 hp and 140 Nm, which the 1301 cc V2 known as LC8 delivers in its latest evolutionary stage, remain. The changes made by Brabus are primarily of a visual nature. Instead of the aggressive Duke headlight mask, there is a round headlight with an LED daytime running light frame and the Brabus logo in the middle. Mudguards and many other trim parts were made of carbon. Other special features of the 1300 R are forged monoblock wheels and a silencer with two tailpipes. There are also a number of CNC parts such as fork bridges, footrests or brake fluid reservoirs. The equipment also includes handlebar end mirrors, LED turn signals with integrated brake lights, a semi-active WP Apex chassis and a tailor-made and heated driver’s seat. The 1300 R is available in two color variants, each limited to 77 units, Magma Red and Signature Black. The number 77 is intended as a reference to the year 1977, in which Brabus was founded. However, the first Brabus motorcycle is sold on the KTM website at a price of 44,900 euros. A good twice as much as for the standard model of the Super Duke 1290 R. A good 24,000 euros are being asked for the Evo. Pre-orders will be accepted online from February 14th at 3:00 p.m. – against a deposit of 3000 euros.
