RUMOR on Assassin’s Creed Infinity: new details on the future live service hub of the license and the many future games

AlthoughAssassin’s Creed Nexus VR clearly not satisfied Ubisoft in terms of sales, the license remains the spearhead for the publisher. If Assassin’s Creed Mirage was again recently treated to a great novelty, the interest of part of the community is already focused on the next main episode baptized since its announcement in September 2022 Assassin’s Creed Codename Red. It must be said that with a destination such as feudal Japan in more or less demand for many years, historical tourism should be worth it, especially since it is Ubisoft Quebec who leads the project, to whom we owe Odyssey. At that time, the publisher also took the opportunity to formalize the following game, which is mainly responsible for Ubisoft Montreal, Codename Hexeand then mentioned in an interview a multiplayer episode nicknamed Invictus. But above all, we were entitled to the officialization ofAssassin’s Creed Infinitythe future hub of the series which was then rumored for the year 2021 and whose existence had leaked thanks to Jason Schreier. If nothing more has been said about him for a year and a half, we can once again count on Tom Henderson who shared interesting details on InsiderGaming.

According to the latter, he was able to have a glimpse ofAssassin’s Creed Infinity provided that nothing is broadcast, showing the user switch from the latter to Codename Red in a few seconds to resume your game, without having to completely restart the game after going to the hub. If Ubisoft intends to doInfinity our own Animus, we expect no less, especially on the current generation using SSDs. As a reminder, it was specified that this would not prevent the sale of games in physical format, which must in all cases be installed, but we can still fear for the future if access is conditioned by the hub.

Where this might not please is thatAssassin’s Creed Infinity should be mainly oriented live service and serve to tell the “meta story” of the present (or rather the future a priori). It would be launched at the same time as Codename Red and would have the classic functionalities of GaaSwith a store called The Exchange offering daily and weekly cosmetics for the protagonists of the episode in Japan, Yasuke And Naoe. Until then, this would not change much from the latest games to date with the Animus Shop and some Mille Regards Boutique of Reda or theOikos of Olympic competitors of Sargon.

On the other hand, a feature named Synchronization would provide access to Projects for each protagonist, who would be kinds of mini Battle Pass with narrative content, used to earn cosmetic rewards. They would be added to the hub on a constant basis and would mainly focus on DLC and releases of new games, in addition to maintaining player interest during periods without other new releases. With such a license, we do not doubt the narrative possibilities of such a system, but if it is ephemeral content to encourage FOMOthis will clearly annoy the community.

Moreover, the strategy ofUbisoft would be to release a main episode every two years, with smaller experiments in between. In itself, it would not be worse than at the time with annualized outflows and some spin-offs on other platforms, and the supposed diversity would make it not too boring. Below you will find a summary of all the projects to come between now and the end of the decade, again according to Tom Henderson and which repeats what he said last year.

List of future games in the Assassin’s Creed Infinity hub

  • Codename Red (Action-RPG in feudal Japan) – 2024, Ubisoft Quebec
  • Invictus (multiplayer) – 2025
  • Codename Hexe – 2026, Ubisoft Montreal
  • Obsidian (Assassin’s IV: Black Flag remake), Ubisoft Singapore
  • Nebula (in India, the Aztec Empire and the Mediterranean) – Ubisoft Sofia
  • Raid (4-player cooperative free-to-play PvE oriented) – Ubisoft Chengdu
  • Echoes (multiplayer) – Ubisoft Annecy
  • Another remake of an Assassin’s Creed game

Yes, you read correctly, in addition to a return of Black Flag, Ubisoft would therefore consider proposing a recast of another episode. Hopefully this is the very first one with Altaïrwhy not for the 20 years in 2027, which unlike the adventure ofEdward Kenway is not playable on the latest PlayStation and has especially aged poorly on several levels.

Finally, and this should delight many fans and would finally demonstrate a change in the right direction on the publisher’s side, Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe would have a female main character, currently named Elsa. For an episode that should be about the 16th century witch hunts in the Holy Roman Empire, this is all the more good news. Until now, the only two titles that have solely featured a woman as a playable character have been Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation on PSVita in 2012 (since ported to many other supports) and Assassin’s Creed Chronicles China in 2015. Whether Syndicate, Odyssey Or Valhallaand a priori Codename Redeveryone preferred to play it safe by offering either a duo of characters of opposite sexes or by giving a choice at the start of the game, despite the canonicity of the female protagonist in both cases (Kassandra And Eivor).

So what do you think about all this? Are you worried about the future of the license? If Ubisoft does not change its habits, we will have to wait a few more months before new official details.

If you wish to obtain Assassin’s Creed Mirageit is currently sold from €39.99 on Amazon.
