RUMOR on Beyond Good and Evil 2: Ubisoft Montpellier in the crosshairs of the Labor Inspectorate and more internal changes

Beyond Good and Evil 2 has been the video game with the longest development time for a few months, and there’s nothing to be happy about. The title is in the boxes ofUbisoft Montpellier since 2008, and since then, a lot of things have happened, including the departure of designer Michel Ancel, who evoked a complicated development.

That was 2020, and almost three years later, well, nothing has changed. This is reported Kotakuciting three unnamed sources working at Ubisoft Montpellier and taking stock of the situation in the studio. Clearly, it’s bad, employees would still suffer from stress and burnout, and would go on sick leaveeven on the side of high-ranking people.

Teams reportedly recently learned that the director of management Guillaume Carmona, absent since the beginning of the year, would not return to Ubisoft Montpellier, he who had worked for 20 years in the company and for four years in the Occitan studio. For his part, Jean-Marc Geffroy would no longer be senior creative director, replaced by Emile Morel, hitherto associate director. Charles Gaudron would now be the director of Beyond Good and Evil 2following the departure of Benjamin Dumaz, while Guillaume Brunier would currently still be executive producer, but for how long?

It is therefore a priori the game of musical chairs at Ubisoft Montpellier to continue the development of Beyond Good and Evil 2, the teams failing to find a recipe that works for the project, which would still be in pre-production. And last December, Ubisoft Montpellier would have been visited by the Labor Inspectorate in order to investigate these working conditions. Kotaku contacted the French state body for more details, the latter obviously did not respond for reasons of confidentiality, but the employees ofUbisoft Montpellier would have spoken with another media, as much to say that this affair will continue to be talked about for a while yet.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 will it see the light of day? Fans are beginning to doubt… While waiting to find out more, you can find the first part at €4.99 on GOG.com.
