RUMOR on Deadlock: Valve’s next game will mix the best in multiplayer games

Valve is clearly not the most prolific development studio. Gabe Newell’s firm is known for Half-Life, Team Fortress, Portal, Left 4 Dead, Counter-Strike or Dota 2but also for its platform Steam and its portable console Steam Deck. The studio experiments internally, but does not hesitate to scrap everything if it does not meet expectations.

So it’s been years since a curious game has been in development at Valve. Already known as Neon Prime And Citadelthe one who now calls himself Deadlock is back in the news this weekthanks to Gabe FollowerWho leak regularly elements related to Valve. Deadlock would be a third-person shooter, a hero shooter in 6 vs 6 on large maps with four paths. Characters would have unique skills and could use items, the title would include gameplay mechanics tower defense. Heroes would be able to travel quickly across the map thanks to floating rails, “similar to BioShock Infinite “.

The game would take place in a mixing universe fantasy And steampunkwith magicians, robots and strange creatures, all very inspired by the world Dotabut with modern European cities, as in Half-Life. The title would initially have had science fiction elements inspired by Half-Life And Portalbut they would have been deleted following internal feedback, the developers preferring to focus on the fantasy.

Okay, that seems pretty clear, but Gabe Follower summarized by stating that Deadlock would have a gameplay nervouscombining mechanics already seen in Dota 2, Team Fortress 2, Overwatch, Valorant, SMITE or Orcs Must Die.

Obviously, it is appropriate to take all this (tempting) information with a grain of salt, but above all, even if it is correct, Valve can very well still change everything before releasing Deadlock. If it comes out one day… In short, you have to be patient, as always with what comes from Valve. To keep you busy, you can find Half-Life: The FPS released at €24.89 on Amazon And Fnac.
