RUMOR on Konami: Metal Gear Solid 1, 2 and 3 remasters on the way, and the announcement of a new Silent Hill closer than imagined

The future of Konami is one of the most mysterious and murky secrets in the video game industry. Despite a catalog of strong licenses whose Metal Gear Solid, Castlevania and silent Hill, the company has indeed not produced a blockbuster for years and is idling in the video game field. Andy Robinson from VGC and other sites claimed last year, however, that the publisher had projects for these 3 franchises, and would rely on external studios for this. They evoked in October 2021 a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater by Virtuosa silent Hill by Kojima Productions and a “reimagining” of the saga Castlevania. Other hallway noises announced that Bloober Team was working on a remake of Silent Hill 2wheras’Annapurna Interactive would use the license for a series of interactive adventures.

No announcement has come to confirm either of these projects since, but while Konami plans to unveil a mystery game at Tokyo Game Show 2022, hopes are reborn. However, again according to Andy Robinson, the title in question would not be linked to these classic licenses. On the other hand, the journalist VGC states that his sources have reminded him that the publisher is preparing “remastering plans for classic Metal Gear Solid episodes”.

Dusk Golemuser of Twitter visibly close to developers of silent Hill and resident Evilgoes further by declaring that it would be remasters of Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (which would therefore not be affected by a remake in the end). The games would be sold separately, or in a pack giving access to Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (for content close to what was offered Metal Gear Solid HD Collection).

Andy Robinson also wrote that the development of the new Castlevania would be the most advancedbefore declaring on Twitter :

I’ve now heard from multiple people that the Silent Hill reveal may come sooner than I suggested in my post today. As with all release window reports, I wouldn’t take this as gospel, but fans may not have to wait much longer.

It would be a priori the remake of Silent Hill 2 by Bloober Teamwhich would premiere on playstation and pc. Are we to understand that its revelation will occur at the end of the year, at the Game Awards 2022 even from a next PlayStation State of Play ? Only the future will tell us…
