Among the game projects Star Wars announced following the end of the exclusive contract between lucasfilm and Electronic Artsthe most amazing was certainly that of a remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic by Aspyr Media. Entrusting the development of a title of this magnitude to a studio more accustomed to remasters than to AAAit was surprising.

However, we may have to wait a long time… Jason Schreier, journalist for Bloomberg aware of many industry secrets, in fact asserts that the development of the remake from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic has reportedly been put on hiatus at Aspyr Media.
A demo would indeed have been presented at lucasfilm and Sony Group (investor in this title planned on PS5 and PC) on June 30 and would not have convinced the producers at all. Art director Jason Minor and design director Brad Prince were reportedly fired as a result, and the 2 directors ofAspyr reportedly told their teams in several meetings in July that the project was being implemented. stand by, because the demo did not live up to expectations. A source told Jason Schreier that the time and money invested in this playable level was “disproportionate”hence the concern and disappointment with its qualities, especially since the initial idea was to release the remake at the end of 2022: a release in 2025 would, according to him, be more realistic if the development was maintained.
The journalist recalls that Saber Interactiveanother branch ofEmbrace Grouphad put resources on the project in May 2022, and that some at Aspyr Media think that the studio behind World War Z could regain full development control. If so, maybe we’ll get the information soon from lucasfilm…
