RUMOR on The Division Heartland: the 4 main free-to-play modes detailed, the release is approaching

The list of projects under development at Ubisoft starts to get long, while the number of definite release dates is approaching zero. Among them, The Division Heartlandrevealed in May 2021, which should normally see the light of day during the current fiscal year, i.e. before March 31, 2023.

the free-to-play was obviously in an active test phase with the publisher from then on, because a video of gameplay and details on the main modes Dispatch and Storm had leaked in the wake of the officialization. Tom Henderson, insider often well informed about upcoming projects, has just given more info on playable modeswhich would eventually be 4 in number. Dispatch would be renamed Excursion and would be an introduction to the game system in PvE, Storm would be the main mode in PvPvE, Nightfall would be a mode PvE with goals, and Hunt could be a mode pvp wiser.

Excursion

Excursion, which was previously introduced as Expedition, is a PvE mode that aims to prepare you for Storm. In this mode, players must scavenge, loot, explore, and survive against enemy AI with the goal of fleeing the map via helicopter. Several people have hinted that Excursion is essentially Storm’s tutorial mode, where players can familiarize themselves with the concept of the map and modes before taking on other players.

Storm

Storm appears to be Heartland’s flagship game mode, which is PvPvE. Just like with Excursion, players must scavenge, loot, explore, and survive. But of course, unlike Excursion, players have to fight against other players as well as the AI. Unlike the majority of Battle Royale or extraction-based games, Storm is a bit different in that the gas expands from random points on the map, making each playthrough different and challenging.

Nightfall

Nightfall is the third Heartland mode, which is an objective-based PvE mode. Just like with Storm, players must loot, survive, and extract themselves to their base of operations. Nightfall is a bit different, with layers added to increase the difficulty of the mode. The mode requires players to complete objectives throughout the game: some of these objectives include deploying beacons, finding targets, and collecting agent data.

Unlike Storm, players cannot extract with a helicopter and must instead flee via an extraction point at the edge of the map. The problem? Players cannot flee from Silver Creek after dark and must survive the night against AI-controlled enemies called “Vultures” after the sun goes down.

Hunt

We currently don’t know much about Hunt, but sources have suggested that this mode is more PvP-based. Presumably, players will have to kill each other without having to deal with the AI.

Along with these new modes, sources have confirmed several other key details, including that The Division Heartland will feature cross-play and is currently in active testing. Additionally, the game received a huge overhaul to its inventory and equipment system, which made the system more familiar to The Division players.

Sources have provided images and video of The Division Heartland on condition of anonymity, and based on my own impressions, it looks like the game is nearly complete. Ubisoft has already pushed back the release of Heartland several times, but the game is expected to release by the end of the year.

As you have read, Tom Clancy’s The Division Heartland would have changed a lot for a year, but would now be very close to its release in free-to-play (and in cross play). It now remains to wait for the announcements ofUbisoftwhich for the record does not provide for a conference during this period of non-E3.
