In Russia, the slightest criticism of Moscow’s role in the conflict, even very hinted, can lead to legal proceedings.
Vladimir Ovchinnikov experienced this. At the end of March, he drew a little girl dressed in the colors of Ukraine and three black bombs above her head, on a wall in the center of the city of Borovsk. The drawing was erased and Ovchinnikov summoned to court. Result: 35,000 rubles fine for having “discredited” the army.
