Then, the Russian subsidiary of the company ended up filing for bankruptcy following the seizure of its bank accounts. But unlike Facebook or Twitter, YouTube has not yet been blocked in the country.
A justified fine?
Over the past few hours, relations have been strained between Russian authorities and Google. The multinational has just been sentenced to pay a fine of 373 million dollars by a court in Moscow. He accuses the company of not having blocked content considered “fake news”, which obviously concerns the war in Ukraine.
It is YouTube that is mainly targeted by this accusation for the non-removal of ” false about the conduct of the special military operation in Ukraine, discrediting the armed forces of the Russian Federation “. Google has not yet appealed.
