More than two years after the start of the invasion of Russia, the governor of the Russian region of Belgorod announced on Tuesday that some 9,000 miners would be evacuated from villages bordering Ukraine, given the increase in attacks since one week.

“We are evacuating a large number of villages, and now we plan to evacuate about 9,000 children due to shelling by the armed forces of Ukraine,” Vyacheslav Gladkov said at a meeting of President Vladimir Putin’s United Russia party. . He further indicated that in one week, 16 people had been killed and 98 injured in the region which has been the target of increased attacks since March 12.

Multiplication of land assaults

Military units claiming to be composed of anti-Putin Russians fighting for Kiev increased their land and air assaults during the Russian presidential election, unsurprisingly won by the master of the Kremlin with a record score, in the absence of any opposition. . The governor also welcomed the fact that the Russian president had received some 90% of the votes in his region.

“I am proud that the inhabitants of the region did not give in despite the difficulty of the situation,” he said, according to the United Russia party. Russia has been bombing Ukraine daily since its assault began on February 24, 2022. It also occupies and claims nearly 20% of Ukrainian territory, while denouncing the fact that attacks could target it on its soil.
