MOSCOW, Sept 17 (Reuters) – Russia’s Defense Minister on Saturday reported strikes against Ukrainian positions in several parts of Ukraine and accused Kyiv of firing shells near the nuclear power plant in Kyiv. Zaporizhia.

Russian forces carried out their strikes in Kherson, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv and Donetsk regions, the minister said, adding that Ukrainian forces had launched an unsuccessful offensive near Pravdyne, Kherson.

The radiation situation in Zaporizhia, Europe’s largest nuclear power plant, remains normal, the minister also said. According to Moscow, two incidents of Ukrainian bombings were recorded near the plant on Saturday.

A spokesman for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry denied that Ukrainian forces had carried out shelling near the plant.

Russia and Ukraine have repeatedly accused each other of targeting Zaporizhia in southern Ukraine.

The UN’s International Atomic Energy Agency on Thursday adopted a resolution demanding that Russia end its occupation of the plant. (Reuters report, French version Benjamin Mallet)
