Russia Says It Foiled New Drone Attack Targeting Crimean Bridge

Russia says it foiled drone attack that targeted Crimean Bridge

Russia claimed to have shot down in the Black Sea, on the night of Friday to Saturday, three Ukrainian naval drones which, according to it, were targeting the Crimean bridge.

“September 2, around 2:20 a.m. Moscow time [1 h 20, heure de Paris] the third unmanned Ukrainian semi-submersible boat, sent by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge, was destroyed in the Black Sea »the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Telegram.

On August 12, two Ukrainian missile attacks were foiled over this strategic bridge that crosses the Kerch Strait. This work, built at great expense on the orders of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, after the annexation of the Crimean peninsula in 2014, has been repeatedly targeted by Ukrainian attacks.

A previous attack in July caused extensive damage to the road section of the structure, which is also used to transport military equipment to the Russian army fighting in Ukraine.

The concrete bridge, 18 kilometers long and inaugurated in 2018 by Vladimir Putin, consists of two parallel structures, one reserved for road traffic and the other for rail traffic.

Crimea itself is also regularly targeted by Ukrainian strikes.
