(Reuters) – Russia is ready to resume gas deliveries to Europe via the Yamal gas pipeline, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak was quoted by the official TASS news agency on Sunday as saying the European market remained ” relevant”.

“While the gas shortage persists, we have the full opportunity to resume deliveries,” he said, adding that the Yamal gas pipeline, “stopped for political reasons”, had remained unused.

Traditionally used to supply Western Europe via the East, the Yamal gas pipeline has seen its flows mostly reversed as Poland has turned away from Russian deliveries to solicit Germany.

Alexander Novak said again that Moscow was studying possible additional gas deliveries via Turkey, while stressing that Russia expected to have delivered in 2022 some 21 billion cubic meters of liquefied natural gas (LNG), a total in increase compared to the previous year.
