Russian airline Aeroflot banned in UK

LONDON (Reuters) – Russian airline Aeroflot was grounded in British airspace on Thursday in response to a major Russian military offensive against Ukraine.

The decision, announced in the House of Commons by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, was confirmed by the civil aviation authority, which suspended the authorization granted to the company.

“This means that Aeroflot will no longer be permitted to operate flights in the UK until further notice,” she said in a statement.

The British Minister for Transport, Grand Shapps, announced at the same time that he had signed restrictions prohibiting the airspace of the United Kingdom to all Russian airlines.
