Russian forces occupy more than 1,800 localities, according to Volodymyr Zelensky

  • According to Volodymyr Zelensky, 1,877 Ukrainian towns and villages are in the hands of Russian forces. The city of Mariupol, today occupied by troops from Moscow, and which had nearly half a million inhabitants before the war, is more than 90% destroyed, also explained the Ukrainian president, Saturday, during of a solidarity event organized by the German government.
  • The European Union (EU) formally adopted a new set of sanctions on Saturday that targets 121 individuals and entitiesincluding 96 additional Russian entities (companies or state agencies), as well as three Russian banks and seven Iranian drone manufacturers.
  • The Wagner Group, which is fighting in Ukraine alongside the Russian army, claimed responsibility for the capture of the village of Iahidne on Saturday., on the northern outskirts of Bakhmout, in the Donbass. These claims are currently unverifiable from independent sources.
  • Russia denounced on Saturday the attitude of the West who “destabilized” the activities of the G20, concluded, in India, without an agreement. The United States, the EU and the G7 have “disturbed the adoption of collective decisions” by attempting, according to Moscow, to impose a “diktat” through a “clear blackmail” to include their interpretation of the conflict in Ukraine in the joint communiqué.
  • Some 3,000 people – according to the police headquarters – gathered in Paris on Saturday in support of Ukraine, to mark the first anniversary of the start of Russia’s invasion of the country. Gatherings also took place in other major cities (Bordeaux, Montpellier, Rennes) and in the regions.
  • In response to the peace plan proposed by Beijing, Emmanuel Macron announced that he will visit China in April. The French head of state wants to call on Beijing to “help put pressure on Russia” in order to “stop the aggression” in Ukraine, and “building peace”.
