La trigger for discord. According to a forensic report from the FBI, reported by our American colleagues fromABC News and AND, if the weapon that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in the fall of 2021 was able to work, someone had to – first – pull the trigger. A version which is totally opposed to that defended by Alec Baldwin, bearer of the weapon at the time of the tragedy. Indeed, the actor – and director of the film Rustclaims to have never pulled the trigger of the firearm.
According to the FBI report, none of the tests carried out were able to reveal a shot without pressure on the trigger having been exerted. This part of a firearm is one of the best known, it is the one allowing the firing of the gun thanks to pressure from the index finger. As our colleagues point out, these observations go against the testimony of Alec Baldwin. Last December, he explained on American television “not having pulled the trigger”. And to continue, “I will never point a gun at someone and will not pull the trigger, ever,” he hammered.
During all the experiments carried out by the ballistic experts of the American federal police, a single configuration allowed firing without pulling the trigger. In this case, the hammer (part located at the rear of the army, similar to the “hammer”) was struck directly. An observation described as “normal”, by specialists, for this type of weapon.

The photographer’s death classified as “an accident”
At the same time, based on that same FBI ballistics report, local authorities in New Mexico have classified Halyna Hutchins’ death as an “accident.” “Examination … showed no convincing evidence that the firearm had been intentionally loaded with live ammunition on set. Based on all available information, the manner of death is instead classified as an accident.”
On the rest of the case, the investigations are ongoing.
