It is an exchange that truly set fire to the powder this week-end. Invited on Ruth Elkrief’s set this Sunday, December 3 on LCI, Manuel Bompard, deputy and national coordinator of La France Insoumise, could not stand the formulation of a question from the journalist on his party’s reaction to the situation in the Middle East then accusing him on several occasions of using misleading terms. A tense situation that the party leader, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, exacerbated by publishing, barely a few minutes after the events, a publication on X, formerly Twitter, in which he describes the journalist as “manipulative” : “If we don’t insult Muslims, this fanatic [en parlant de Ruth Elkrief, NDLR.] is indignant. What a shame ! Well done Manuel Bompard for the reply. Elkrief reduces all political life to his contempt for Muslims“ he thundered.
Words very strong and heavy with meaning which provoked a wave of indignation and support towards the wife of businessman Claude Czechowski, from anonymous people and media personalities, such as the host Arthur, the columnist Éric Naulleau or even the part of the TF1 group, as well as the journalist’s former channel, BFM TV. Many journalists also reacted, including the presenter of Time for the pros on CNews, Pascal Praud, frightened by the words of the politician: “Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s attack on Ruth Elkrief is unacceptable, he wrote on X a few hours after the words of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, before to incite “every journalist in France” has “condemn words” of the politician “against one of our most remarkable sisters”. If Ruth Elkrief has not spoken since the controversy broke out, the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin, for his part, announced this Monday, December 4, that following the remarks of the boss of the Insoumis, the journalist was going to be placed under police protection.

Ruth Elkrief: compared to a dictator by a 2022 presidential candidate
Faced with the seriousness and professionalism of the journalist, many guests often faltered, or even slipped, in the face of Ruth Elkrief. During the 2022 presidential campaign, the president of Reconquête!, Éric Zemmour, had compared the journalist to a famous dictator of the XXth century. In the flow of the argument, the journalist, also mother of Déborah-Lou and Cléa Czechowski, preferred to smile in the face of this unflattering comparison, without giving innot hesitating to counter-attack, based on arguments, against the one who was then applying for access to the Élysée.
