Ryan Reynolds: Actor wants to buy fifth-rate football club

Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds apparently wants to invest in the Welsh football club Wrexham AFC. The club plays in the fifth division.

Hollywood superstar Ryan Reynolds (43, "Deadpool") is causing enthusiasm among Welsh football fans: Together with his acting colleague Rob McElhenney (43, "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia"), Reynolds wants to buy the AFC Wrexham from Wales. The club currently plays in the National League, the fifth division. "We are in negotiations and confirm that the two are interested in investing," the club announced on its official website.

The fans, who have owned the club since 2011, have already agreed to further negotiations. In a vote, more than 95 percent of the 1,223 supporters were in favor of talking to the two Hollywood stars. Should the deal go through, Wrexham's supporters would give up control of the club after nine years. Reynolds himself also spoke up. On twitter the "Deadpool" actor hooked up and added to the tension. Why Reynolds and McElhenney want to invest in Wrexham AFC is still completely unclear. Wrexham's most notable achievement was an FA Cup win over Arsenal in January 1992.
