At first it sounded like Ryan Reynolds’ film “Free Guy” should get a sequel. But an appearance by the Hollywood star raises doubts.

Ryan Reynolds (46) believes that not every film has to have a sequel. After an appearance by the Hollywood star at the “Just For Laughs” comedy festival in London, it seems that the future of a second “Free Guy” film is still very uncertain.

The actor not only starred in the action comedy “Free Guy” by director Shawn Levy (54) in 2021, but was also involved as a producer. His “Deadpool 2” co-star Rob Delaney (46) has him according to a report by the industry magazine “Variety” asked at the event if there were any plans for sequels to films Reynolds had produced. The latter makes it clear that he is interested in it, but was apparently ambivalent.

“I don’t know it”

“There’s potential to do a sequel to Free Guy, which would be fun. I would love it,” Reynolds said. “But does everything fucking have to be a sequel? I don’t know.” Sometimes it’s okay to just shoot a film that’s well received – and then everyone goes home.

The 46-year-old had 2021 posted on Twitterthat Disney is interested in a sequel. For three years he tried to establish “Free Guy” as a new brand: “Disney confirmed today that they officially want a sequel. Woo hoo!” Levy commented with a “Yuuuuuuuup”. Now Reynolds says you have to resist the urge to immediately say, “Oh, a sequel will be the first one [Film] validate. No, the first film validates the first and then you can leave it at that. So I don’t know, we’re still talking about it.”

In addition to Reynolds, the comedy also stars Jodie Comer (29), Taika Waititi (47) and “Stranger Things” star Joe Keery (30). Guy (Reynolds) works as a clerk in a bank and one day he meets the woman of his life (Comer). He discovers that he is a non-playable character in a video game and tries to become a hero.
