Ryanair: opposes Aena appeal on royalties

(CercleFinance.com) – Ryanair says it has filed a formal appeal against attempts by airport operator Aena to circumvent the Spanish government’s (DGAC) 2021 decision to impose a 5-year charge freeze at airports Spaniards.

éIf Aena is authorized to increase its charges, this will mean that airport charges will increase at all airports. With just one move, Aena threatens Spain’s vital air connectivity, which poses the biggest threat to Spanish tourism since Covid’, the company says in essence.

In this context, Ryanair calls on the Spanish Council of Ministers and the Spanish regulator (CNMC) to ensure that Aena continues to respect the decision taken by the Spanish government in 2021 to freeze airport charges until 2027.
