Of the processors AMD less expensive than the “X” versions and less energy-consuming to convince the general public.
The release of the four Ryzen 7000X last September will have allowed AMD to present its new Zen 4 architecture. However, it is not on these processors that the American brand hopes to make the biggest sales.
Less expensive “non-X” processors
The “X” versions are indeed very high-end processors for users that English speakers qualify as “ enthusiasts “. On the other hand, they are far too expensive for the majority of users.
For the past few weeks, several rumors have mentioned the specifications of the “non-X” range, which is aimed precisely at this general public thanks to slightly lower frequencies, but also and above all a marked drop in consumption and prices.
At the beginning of the month, we announced the release of this “non-X” series for January 10 and we took the opportunity to draw up a summary of all the technical specifications of the three expected processors.
A drop in “basic” frequencies
Today, we are able to confirm this information thanks to our colleague from VideoCardz who was able to obtain some slides from the CES 2023 presentation in Las Vegas planned by AMD.
Everything that was previously said is therefore confirmed with three processors – Ryzen 5 7600, Ryzen 7 7700, Ryzen 9 7900 – whose TDP is set at 65 Watts. The number of cores is identical to the “X” versions but the frequencies are indeed revised downwards.
So, we’re talking about 3.7 GHz base for the 7900 (1 GHz less than the 7900X) and 3.8 GHz for the 7700 and 7600, which is a reduction of 700 MHz compared to the 7700X and 900 MHz compared to the 7600X.
As you can see from the chart above, boost frequencies are also down, but to a much lesser extent and fares are tweaked significantly so the overall cost of the AM5 platform will make it a bit less difficult to access.
The complete embargo surrounding the “non-X” Ryzen 7000 should be lifted on January 9th – with publication of independent tests therefore – for marketing the next day.
