And the American designer of SSD takes over the “tube” of Tina Arena… which we leave you to sing alone, without anyone to testify.

While there is a lot of talk about Gen 5 SSDs and most brands make their announcements on the subject, some of the biggest are missing. This is no longer the case for Sabrent.

Close collaboration with Phison

Indeed, the American company has just sent a press release to clarify its position on the subject. We did not doubt it for a second, but Sabrent confirms that it is working on the design of Gen 5 SSDs.

However, the company specifies that it does not want to be satisfied ” SSDs designed to run around 10,000 MB/s “. Sabrent explains aiming higher and indicates ” work closely with Phison in order to achieve higher speeds and approach the limits of PCI Express.

Sabrent thus highlights its Rocket X5 Gen 5 SSD with the objective of offering up to 14 GB/s of read speed… before specifying that it is not there yet.

Up to 12 GB/s for now

In its press release, Sabrent specifies that at present, it is a question of 12,000 MB/s and, as if to walk the talk, the brand is broadcasting a CrystalDiskMark capture.

You can see for yourselves, in sequential reading, it is indeed more than 12,000 MB/s while in writing, we go a little below the fateful threshold. Sabrent adds that technical limitations currently prevent it from reaching 14 Gb/s, but ” have good hope for the future “.

This Rocket X5 is still in the optimization phase and Sabrent hopes to be able to further improve the results presented. For the moment, the company is also careful not to specify the planned capacities or the release date and the price. Case to follow.
