A External SSD still a little more compact than the Rocket Nano V1 released nearly three years ago.

In December 2020, we were testing the Rocket Nano Rugged, a very small external SSD from a brand still little known in France, the American Sabrent. A remarkable product in every respect that the company is updating today with a “V2” whose release is imminent.

New 4TB version

For this second generation, there is no question of version yet rugged – no doubt it will arrive in a second time – but Sabrent claims improved performance with speeds “ up to 1500 MB/s when you had to make do with 1,000 MB/s on the first version.

The case of the Rocket Nano V2 is still made of aluminum in order to combine design and efficiency: it effectively acts as a heat sink to prevent the beast from overheating. A beast which, as a sign of the times, is evolving towards an unprecedented capacity of 4 TB, in addition to 1 TB and 2 TB. Of course, it is the smallest version of V1, the 500 GB, which bears the brunt of this evolution. .

Finally, Sabrent points out that its Rocket Nano V2 is designed to exploit the fastest USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 ports while it delivers USB-A and USB-C cables so that the connection is simplified.

For the price and the European release, we will still have to wait, but the Rocket Nano V2 is imminent in North America where the 2TB version should be trading for $199.99.
