The “Krone” campaign “Safe way to school” has been successful for many years. Dangerous areas will be exposed again this year.

Even if a lot has already been achieved in the past two decades: there is still enough to do on Carinthia’s roads to make school trips safe. And the “Krone” readers make an important contribution to this. Parents, grandparents, teachers and drivers who have discovered traffic traps contact us again and again. A solution is then worked out together with experts and authorities. Some danger spots have already been defused. In the past school year, some danger spots were also defused. Among other things, a concerned mother had asked the “Krone” for help because cars were traveling much too quickly on the Maltatal Landesstraße between the towns of Malta and Fischertratten. After experts had looked at the facts, “Attention children” boards were set up there. Such warning signs are now also intended to ensure safety in Sagrad near Maria Saal. Signs are being put up There were also problems on the way to school in Obermillstatt because drivers were not informed that there were many pedestrians on the road. In the meantime, however, information boards have been erected. Millstatt Mayor Alexander Thoma: “There are already plans for a footpath and cycle path. This should ensure more safety in the future.” In Altglandorf near St. Veit, digital speed display boards were erected and floor markings renewed. Some danger spots are currently still being worked on – such as the one in Paternion. Coming from the Autobahn in the direction of the town entrance, a long left-hand bend tempts you to drive fast. There have been several accidents there. “The track has been completely renewed to increase grip. And crash barriers were also installed. A radar box is also to be set up soon,” says Martin Gruber’s office.
