Safran: Akasa Air orders more than 300 LEAP-1B engines – 01/26/2024 at 3:40 p.m.


(CercleFinance.com) – Safran announces that Akasa Air and CFM International (a 50/50 joint company between SafranAircraft Engines and GE) have announced the signing of a contract for the purchase of LEAP-1B engines intended to power a fleet of 150 Boeing 737 MAX whose order was announced last week.

The contract also includes replacement engines and a service contract.

‘Our customers, including Akasa, are seeing a 15-20% reduction in fuel consumption with their LEAP-equipped fleets, and this engine has the highest reliability and utilization rate in its thrust class.’ underlined Gaël Méheust, CEO. of CFM International.

Based in Mumbai (India), Akasa Air began operations in August 2022 and aims to become one of the top 30 airlines in the world by the end of the decade
