Safran: American Airlines won over by carbon brakes – 12/13/2022 at 4:40 p.m.

(CercleFinance.com) – Safran announces that its subsidiary Safran Landing Systems has been chosen by American Airlines – “the company with the largest fleet in the world” – to modernize its fleet of Boeing 737NG with carbon brakes, replacing current steel brakes.

In total, more than 300 aircraft in service are concerned, indicates Safran, which specifies that the carbon brakes make it possible to save up to 320 kg per aircraft compared to the steel version.

“This new configuration will help American Airlines to meet its commitments in terms of sustainable development by offering it the possibility of reducing its CO2 emissions by up to 77 tonnes per year and by Boeing 737NG”, continues Safran, who mentions “a performance operational and the lowest operating cost on the market’ for its brakes.

According to Cédric Goubet, President of Safran Landing Systems, ‘this collaboration is a great opportunity for Safran Landing Systems to increase its presence on the American market and to amplify the growing activity of its Walton site’.
