(CercleFinance.com) – The group announces that VoltAero has chosen Safran’s ENGINeUS™ 100 electric motor to power the Cassio 330 electric-hybrid aircraft prototype. The contract was signed today at the Farnborough Air Show in the United Kingdom. United.
Safran Electrical & Power will deliver an ENGINeUSTM 100 engine before the end of the year for the ground endurance test of the electric-hybrid propulsion system. Then the company will supply an ENGINeUSTM 100 engine certified for flight in 2023, in order to allow the start-up to test the Cassio 330 prototype in flight. Certification of the electric motor is scheduled for mid-2023.
“This event represents another major step towards the first take-off of the Cassio 330, marking the launch of the certification program for our Cassio family of aircraft,” said Jean Botti, CEO and CTO of VoltAero.
