Saft: delivered battery systems to Alstom

(CercleFinance.com) – Saft, a subsidiary of TotalEnergies, has started delivering emergency battery systems for Alstom’s Metropolis metro trains for the Grand Paris Express, the largest transport project in Europe.

Saft has already supplied the first 10 battery systems for five trains out of a total of 183 trains that will be needed for the three new lines (15, 16 and 17) by 2030.

The batteries will power on-board signaling and control systems, security lighting, door control, communication systems, as well as ventilation, air conditioning, lighting and USB charging sockets.

Milan Sima, Managing Director Rail at Saft said: ‘Saft batteries have been on board Paris regional trains for more than 80 years. In 1985, all metros and regional express trains were already equipped with Saft batteries. ‘
