Saft: develops a new energy storage system – 09/19/2022 at 09:55

(CercleFinance.com) – Saft, a subsidiary of TotalEnergies, has developed Intensium Shift, a new high-density energy storage system (ESS) optimized for energy transfer applications.

3 MWh Intensium Shift (I-Shift) containers can be installed in series alongside energy conversion equipment, with a 50% reduction in footprint and on-site installation activities, promoting faster deployment of large storage facilities.

The I-Shift module allows operators to store electrical energy when it is abundantly available so that it can be used during periods of high consumption. This technology will ensure more efficient use of precious carbon-free electricity.

HervĂ© AmossĂ©, Director of Saft’s Energy Storage Solutions Division explains: ‘I-Shift thus supports the energy transition, by enabling faster integration of low-carbon renewable energies into the grid. ‘

Available from mid-2023, Intensium Shift is based on lithium-iron-phosphate battery technology.
