The nominations for the SAG Awards were announced on February 4th. Netflix can also win numerous prizes here.

After various Netflix productions had been proposed for a price a total of 42 times at the Golden Globes on February 3rd – including six nominations each for "The Crown" and "Mank" – the streaming giant can also go to this year's Screen Actors Guild Hope Awards (SAG Awards). On February 4th, the US Acts Union nominations were announced. Again, numerous series and films from the service are among the candidates for an award.

At the SAG Awards, Netflix received a total of 30 nominations – 13 for films, 17 for series – and thus once again clearly leads the competition. Amazon Studios, which came second in the film category, are in the running four times, while HBO comes second in the series categories with seven nominations. Among the nominees for the best cast of a feature film alone are three Netflix productions: "Da 5 Bloods", "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" and "The Trial of the Chicago 7". "Minari" (A24) and "One Night in Miami" (Amazon Studios) are also suggested for the price.

The late Chadwick Boseman (1976-2020) and Viola Davis (55) – both "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" – have been nominated as best male and female actors in a leading film role. Gary Oldman (62) could take the trophy for his role in "Mank". Boseman was also posthumously nominated for Best Supporting Actor for "Da 5 Bloods". The only titles in the running for the best ensemble in a drama series are those that can be seen on Netflix: "Better Call Saul", Bridgerton "," The Crown "," Lovecraft Country "and" Ozark ".

"The Crown" and "Schitt's Creek" right at the front

As with the Golden Globes, the hit series "The Crown" is one of the big favorites anyway. Together with "Schitt's Creek" she got the most nominations – five each – in the series. In the "Best Actress in a Drama Series" category, for example, Netflix already has an award in its hands. Here, Gillian Anderson (52), Olivia Colman (47), Emma Corrin (25), Julia Garner (27) and Laura Linney (56) have been nominated three times for "The Crown" and twice for "Ozark". Among the male colleagues, Jason Bateman (52, "Ozark"), Bob Odenkirk (58, "Better Call Saul"), Regé-Jean Page (31, "Bridgerton"), Josh O'Connor (30, "The Crown" ) and Sterling K. Brown (44, "This is Us") hope.

Otherwise, the nominations are similar to those of the Golden Globes. "The Big Bang Theory" star Kaley Cuoco (35) has the chance for the best actress in a comedy series for "The Flight Attendant" at the SAG Awards. Mark Ruffalo (53), Ethan Hawke (50) and Hugh Grant (60) are best actors in a TV movie or mini for "I Know This Much Is True", "The Good Lord Bird" and "The Undoing" Series nominated. The German Helena Zengel (12) has also been nominated again for her role in "News of the World" – as best supporting actress in a film.

Due to the corona pandemic, the Screen Actors Guild Awards will take place later than usual in 2021. The awards, which are often an indicator of the Oscars, will be presented on April 4th this year. The 93rd Academy Awards will then take place on April 25th, while nominations are expected on March 15th.
