Sage and processor update: Microsoft introduces Surface Pro 9, Laptop 5 and Studio 2+

• Microsoft has introduced a new generation of Surface models.

With the Surface Pro 9, the Surface Laptop 5 and the Surface Studio 2+, Microsoft has introduced three new models in its Surface series. What changes compared to the predecessors?

Surface Pro 9 available with two different processors

Let’s first take a look at the Surface Pro 9. The previous Surface Pro 8 model still had an 11th generation Intel processor installed. With the successor, on the other hand, you have the choice between versions with two different processors. There is a variant with the new 12th generation Intel processors. With this, the Surface Pro 9 should offer up to 50 percent more performance than the Pro 8.

If you don’t want to do without 5G connectivity, you can also purchase the Surface Pro 9 with a Microsoft SQ3 processor instead. Another innovation: The keyboard cover, which is available separately, is now partly made of renewable materials.

The Surface Pro 9 is scheduled for release around November 8, 2022. It is available in stores from 1,299 euros (Intel) and 1,659 euros (SQ3). Pre-orders are already possible.

Surface Laptop 5: New processor and new color

In addition to the new “sage” color, the new Surface Laptop also gets an update to the new Intel processor generation 12. Thanks to support for technologies such as Dolby Atmos or Dolby Vision IQ, the device should offer you the best picture and sound quality. In addition, the laptop now has a Thunderbolt 4 port.

The Surface Laptop 5 will be released on October 25, 2022. You can buy the 13-inch version from 1,179 euros and the 15-inch version from 1,529 euros. Pre-orders are also possible here in the Microsoft Store.

Surface Studio 2+: all-in-one workstation

Last but not least, the Surface Studio all-in-one PC also gets an upgrade. According to Microsoft, the Surface Studio 2+ model not only offers 50 percent more computing power thanks to the new Intel Core H-35 processor, but also 50 percent more graphics power thanks to the new Geforce RTX 3060 graphics card from NVIDIA.
