Sage Appliances will launch next May a new coffee machine for lovers of Vertuo capsules, the Vertuo Creatista. For neophytes, Vertuo pods belong to Nespresso and allow you to make good long coffees. The premium Australian household appliance brand is therefore enriching its range while blurring its message around coffee a little: if it preaches the good word to its future followers on a daily basis by campaigning for a specialty coffee made from machines with an integrated grinder , it does not neglect the capsule machine market, which still weighs heavily in Europe. It is indeed difficult to sit on 53% of the market (this is the share of pod + filter machines) in France, while that of percolator coffee makers with grinder only represents 3% of the French coffee market.
With the Vertuo Creatista, Sage is therefore targeting the high end of Nespresso, since the Vertuo pods are the most expensive in the range of the Swiss giant but also on the market. And for that, the manufacturer does not change a winning team; Sage is indeed inspired by the Nespresso Creatista Plus, which we tested, to offer a beautiful machine in brushed stainless steel, capable of making cappuccino, latte Macchiato and Flat White, in addition of course to very black coffees, but preferably elongated. The design is apparently neat. In a way, it is reminiscent of grandpa’s good old Italian-style percolators.
The machine delivers a pressure of 19 bars, essential for piercing the famous capsules, has a preheating time of 3 seconds and has a 1.9 liter water tank. The steam wand is programmable, with three texture levels and three milk temperatures. The idea is therefore to complicate a little the life of those who had decided to simplify it by opting for a capsule machine. You have to go fast, but not too much anyway, since coffee is a passion drink, and no longer a sock juice that must keep us awake all day.
So of course, this beautiful toy has a price to match its ambitions: 699 €. At this price, it will be necessary to think carefully about the annual cost of the whole since a Vertuo pod costs between 45 and 50 cents. We cannot advise you enough to read our paper on the profitability of coffee makers.
