After a breathtaking final, the Franco-Italian duo Ian Lipinski-Ambrogio Beccardia (Crédit Mutuel) crossed the finish line of the 13th edition of the CIC Normandy Channel Race in first position, Friday in Ouistreham, after 4 days 15 hours 08 minutes and 18 seconds of navigation.
A victory at the finish for the two skippers, who beat Corentin Douguet and Yoann Richomme (Quéguiner-Innoveo), who were leaders for a good part of the race, by 9 minutes and 50 seconds.
“Three or four times we thought it was over. We believed in it and then we were sure it was over. Then we recruited. We couldn’t take it anymore, that’s a lot in a few hours. We will remember it all our lives”, commented Ian Lipinski on dry land, to describe this disjointed and breathless end of the race in the Class40s.
The 40-year-old sailor, winner (with Adrien Hardy) of the Transat Jacques Vabre 2019, will have had to wait for his third participation in the CIC Normandy Chanell Race to triumph, after his 2nd place in 2020 in particular.
