(Boursier.com) — Saint-Gobain has signed an agreement to acquire the companies Fibroplac and Falper:
* Fibroplac – with a factory located in Pombal (central Portugal) – is highly recognized in the Portuguese market for the high quality of its production of plasterboard.
* Falper – with a factory located in Vila Nova de Gaia (district of Porto in Portugal) – has developed an advanced digital solution for the design and production of light steel structures.

With combined sales of approximately €15 million and 75 employees, these two acquisitions will strengthen and accelerate Saint-Gobain’s strong growth in Portugal:
– By providing a local supply of high-quality plasterboard, to accelerate the double-digit growth of plasterboard systems.
– By developing integrated sustainable solutions combining light structural steel, plasterboard, insulation and construction chemistry products that meet the needs of the fast-growing prefabricated modular construction market.

In Portugal, Saint-Gobain operates 10 factories as well as a technical development center in Aveiro, and employs more than 650 people.

These acquisitions are in line with the Group’s “Grow & Impact” strategy successfully implemented in Portugal to strengthen its leading position in sustainable construction. The finalization of these transactions is subject to the agreement of the competition authorities.
