Saint-Gobain signs a renewable electricity purchase contract in North America


(AOF) – Saint-Gobain has signed a 15-year renewable electricity purchase agreement (Power Purchase Agreement or PPA) with TotalEnergies for the purchase of solar energy for its 125 industrial sites in North America (United States and Canada). This 100 MW PPA, also called Danish Fields Solar Project (Danish Fields), should reduce the CO2 emissions linked to electricity (scope 2 emissions) of the construction materials specialist in North America by 90,000 tonnes. per year. The Danish Fields site is expected to be commissioned by the end of 2024.

“This renewable energy project is essential to enable Saint-Gobain to achieve its commitment to reduce its scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions by 33% by 2030 compared to 2017, and to achieve carbon neutrality. by 2050,” explained Mark Rayfield, general manager of Saint-Gobain North America.

Danish Fields is the third PPA entered into by Saint-Gobain in North America. The three projects combined are expected to represent a reduction of more than 70% in scope 2 emissions in North America, compared to 2017 levels.
