Saint-Gobain: will modernize a factory in Montreal


(CercleFinance.com) – Saint-Gobain, through its building products subsidiary CertainTeed Canada, announced today that it intends to invest C$91 million to modernize equipment at its Montreal plasterboard.

The group will reduce its carbon emissions by 44,000 metric tons per year, creating the first carbon-free drywall plant in North America. The reduction in emissions associated with upgrading plant equipment is equivalent to taking 9,500 cars off the road.

The equipment upgrades will also reduce the site’s energy consumption by 30%, creating one of the most energy-efficient gypsum wallboard plants in the world.

The modernization work will also increase the production capacity of the Montreal plant by 40%, which will allow CertainTeed to strengthen its commitment to the construction industry in Quebec, the Atlantic provinces and Eastern Canada. ‘Ontario.
