Died on Wednesday after being fatally stabbed, the Spanish teacher in her fifties was appreciated in the establishment where she had worked for many years. Her colleagues described her as someone who was well settled in her high school and radiant in her work.

A teacher killed for the first time in France since the assassination of Samuel Paty. This Wednesday, a teacher from a private establishment in Saint-Jean-de-Luz in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques died after being fatally stabbed. She was a Spanish teacher in this private high school where she had been practicing for a long time. This is confirmed by the testimony of one of her former students, who had had her as a teacher in sixth and fifth grade twenty years ago.

This former student remembers the teacher well in her fifties. “Very sweet, she spoke in a dry way when it was necessary to be respected, without the need to shout,” she says to Europe 1. Many students loved her, still according to this former schoolgirl from Saint-Thomas -d’ Aquinas.

“Radiant in her work”

The teachers also pay tribute to their colleague, as the rector of the Bordeaux Academy Anne Bisagni-Faure said on Wednesday afternoon. “I had very spontaneous testimonies on my phone. The Spanish inspectors knew that I was coming here to the establishment. They told me of their emotion and that they knew this teacher. Well established in this high school , radiant in her work, she was an excellent teacher who deserves all our admiration beyond the sympathy and compassion we have for her loved ones”, declared the rector.

Another former student contacted by Europe 1 remembers “a benevolent and funny person, very serious in his work and concerned about the success of his students”. “I could never have imagined his name associated with such a news item,” he admits. An investigation has been opened for assassination, and a minute of silence will be observed in all schools this Thursday.
