Salary halved, no more access to the ministers’ bench… For Gabriel Attal, return to the life of a deputy

For Gabriel Attal, we must not make a mistake when arriving at the National Assembly this Thursday. The resigning Prime Minister, elected deputy during the legislative elections, will not be back on the ministers’ bench at the opening of the parliamentary session.

As at the beginning of each legislature, the deputies are required to respect the alphabetical order. Each place is determined by the surnames of the parliamentarians and Gabriel Attal will therefore sit between two ecologist deputies: Clémentine Autain and Christine Arrighi. Not far from him, separated by only two seats, will be the rebellious elected representative, triple S file, Raphaël Arnault.

Some advantages retained

A radical return to the chamber for Gabriel Attal, who must also give up his salary as head of government. Goodbye to the 15,900 euros gross monthly, the resigning Prime Minister will now receive around 7,600 euros gross, or half as much. He will, however, keep some advantages linked to the position: car, driver and even police protection.

No change, however, for ministers who are not MPs. Their remuneration remains the same until a new government is appointed. Thus, those who lost or withdrew their candidacy in the legislative elections, such as Sabrina Agresti-Roubache, come out winners. From a strictly financial point of view, the salary of a minister is set at 10,600 euros gross per month.
